Many people who haven't been to the Florida Keys think it's all palm trees and sandy beaches, but the natural shoreline looks more like this with limestone outcroppings with three different species of mangroves on and around them. The shallow waters here are teeming with life! This is way more interesting than a manicured sandy beach anyway ;)

Curry Hammock State Park
Curry Hammock State Park in Marathon in the Florida Keys has one of the largest wild populations of state-endangered thatch palms (Thrinax radiata) in the US. This palm is native throughout the Caribbean and is a popular landscaping plant. Its range extends into southern Florida, but it is rare to find except in small patches primarily in the Florida Keys.
